Home to the UK's largest collection of short run limited edition artworks of Royal Navy ships past and present
NOTICES: SOLID WOOD FRAMES NOW DISCOINTINUED
This site has been created for all those men and women who have served at sea in the Royal Navy. In it you will find over 3800 short run limited edition artworks of Royal Navy ships past and present, plus many foreign naval and civilian ships, all created by ex-RN Cook and digital artist Nick Barwis.
We also have well over 1000 framed ships crests, FAA Squadron Crests, RFA, Army Regimental and RAF Squadron crests on site.
The Navy has two things over the other two services - Its men (obviously!) and its ships. They're where we worked, laughed, slept and played. As we get older our memories fade a little and those we do retain become rosier the thicker the glass in our spectacles becomes! Hopefully this site will offer Jack the chance to rekindle those happy memories when we were young, daring and pretty carefree. We drunk way too much, and spent far too much time in front of the Jimmy, but we laughed like drains at the incredible humour on the mess deck and primarily and above all (and against popular belief that we were there to protect the nation) we were there to get the girl!
It's pretty ironic that most of us are now more anchor faced than we ever were when we served in the Andrew. I hope you like the art.

HOW TO FIND YOUR SHIP
AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT YOU GET - LEFT
BRAND NEW TO JACKS TAXI - SURNAME SHIP'S CRESTS
Ever Wondered what the ship's crest would look like if Pusser named a ship after you? Brand new to Jacks Taxi these framed 'Surname' ship's crests are a novel way to celebrate your roots in an original way. Presented in a chunky black frame with a off white mount these ships badges are made to look they are fixed to a Pusser's grey Bulkhead.
Using a combination of family heraldic databases and surname origins reference books I can now create ship's badges for the majority of surnames.
I am continually adding new surnames to the website but if you can't see your surname please contact me at barwisnick@yahoo.co.uk or via the contact page on the website. And remember you don't need to use the 'official' meaning of your surname. You can request any deign you think reflects how you see your self or why not use your Navy nickname?
Measuring a generous 8" x 10' framed these these framed surname ships crests are £19.99 + p&p (UK Only)
Did you know that the surname 'Stoker' derives from the middle Dutch word for 'Arsonist' and from the Gaelic word for a 'Trumpeter?" Or that the surname 'Mallory" derives from the medieval nickname for an unlucky Person?

Where's My Ship?
If you can't find your ship then please get in touch via the contact us page and I will endeavour to create one for you within 7 days of your request. There is absolutely no obligation to purchase a requested artwork, so please feel free to ask. Similarly if you served on board after a major refit and your ship substantially changed its appearance, again, please ask.
Commissions
It's not your fault if you're not British! If you were unlucky enough to have served in another navy such as the US or French ones, please don't despair! I am always happy to take on individual commissions using photographs supplied by the client to produce truly unique and personal artworks at a very reasonable price. If you are interested in finding out more please feel free to contact me. Commissions do not need to be navy related. There is a selection of some of my commissioned work below.
What You Get
All artworks are individually printed to order on cotton canvas paper and are limited to a print run of just 25. All are signed and numbered by the artist. Each artwork measures 16" x 20" (40cm x 50cm) when mounted on its art quality matting. Each artwork has a backing board and comes in a cellophane envelope. Priced at £24.99.
Before ordering please note that these are my artistic impressions of the ships, not photographs. And that due to ink absorption on the cotton canvas paper used, the colours on the finished artwork will be slightly less bright but slightly 'deeper' than the digital versions used to illustrate the artworks on screen.
Want A Larger Artwork Or Your Artwork On Canvas?
Currently we only supply artworks in A3 size. However if you are looking for an artwork in a larger size or printed on Canvas we can supply your artwork as a digital file on an USB memory stick. You can then take this file to a your local printer to create exactly the artwork you require. Please contact us before ordering if you wish to pursue this option.
Frames
The overall size is a 'standard ready made' frame size you should easily be readily available locally to you.

Ships Lost In The Falklands War
Originally I was hesitant to advertise these ships as they bring different memories to different crew members, but I have been asked if I have done artworks, so have decided to put them on the site. As a mark of respect to the crews of HMS Sheffield (D80), HMS Coventry (D118), HMS Ardent (F184) and HMS Antelope (F170) all have been given the same title "Falklands Hero" preceded by the ships name.
I salute all members of all the armed services who have served in times of conflict - Nick B
